Solution for High Monitor

Will my display work with that?

Solution for High Monitor

Postby Dlarson » Thu Jan 05, 2017 4:37 pm

I have just purchased a Workspace Lift35 and love everything about it except that my monitor now sits too high while I'm sitting and I'm already experiencing neck and back pain from it.

I have a 27" monitor and would like to keep this size or something close to it but I want to find a way to have the monitor sit on the work surface to lower it down. Does anyone have suggestions? I've looked at the arm mounts but I just don't know what to buy - I don't want the screen any closer to my face than it already is so from what I've looked at I think a lot of the arms would move it closer to me as it lowers down to the desk.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thank you.

Hi! Glad to hear you enjoy the Lift35.

Quick question: Is your monitor resting directly on the desk surface, on its own OEM stand? Or is it on some other kind of mount?

Thanks!

I have a View Sonic VS1 4886 - it has it's own stand with controls build in and it's not adjustable. The bottom of my screen sits about 3.5" above the work surface.

From what I can find online about that monitor, it's not VESA-compatible, and it cannot be detached from its stand. Is that correct?

That is correct but I am willing to buy a new monitor if I can find some kind of clamp mount. I've tried a clamp style mount just to see if it will attach but it's not stable at all. Looks like my only chance is to find a monitor that sits almost flush with the desk top?

That would be too low, according to most ergonomists. The top of the monitor should be just slightly above eye level.
In any case, we have several mounts that can be adjusted to practically any useable angle. The LX arm would serve nicely: http://www.ergotron.com/en-us/products/ ... s/45-241#/

Do you have something that will mount to the Ergotron desktop?

Yes, the LX will mount to the Lift35.
